Boulder World Bicycle Relief Weekend

We are pleased to announce that the weekend of October 16/17th in Boulder, CO will be packed full of great events to support World Bicycle Relief, an amazing nonprofit that is changing lives. World Bicycle Relief's mission is to provide access to independence and livelihood through The Power of Bicycles. BEEP--Bicycles for Educational Empowerment--is World Bicycle Relief's most effective program. BEEP's goal is to provide 50,000 Bicycles to 5,000 schools across Zambia. A 10 mile commute by foot to school or work, taking about 4 hours to complete, is normal in Zambia. With a bicycle, this commute can be done in a quarter the time, adding roughly 3 hours to a person’s day to regain livelihood and give students the chance for a future that could not be achieved without education. With bicycles costing only $134 each to produce, distribute, and maintain, 50,000 bicycles will take $8 million to achieve. We are looking to help World Bicycle Relief get one step closer and would love your help!

Here is what we have planned: Saturday, Oct. 16th | TOWN RIDE and PARTY for BEEP | 4-7pm | Presented by Full Cycle Starting at 4pm, a 10 mile town ride will depart Full Cycle on Pearl. We will tour quiet roads Northeast of the shop, returning to kick off the party at 5:30pm. If you can’t make the ride, just come for the party! The generosity of local sponsors is allowing us to provide an array food, drinks, and much more to make sure the event is a hit. We will have lots of great items available in a jar drawing and our presentation will give you a short, but sweet, taste of exactly what World Bicycle Relief is all about. No registration required!

Sunday, Oct. 17th | 10 MILES for PROJECT ZAMBIA'S BEEP fun run | 7am start | Eben G. fine Park | After seeing what 10 miles on a bike is like at yesterday evening's town ride, come out and feel the difference of 10 miles on foot! Starting at Eben G. Fine Park the FUN RUN (non-competitive event) will stick mainly to trails surrounding the park heading west up the Boulder Canyon, north into the Sanitas Valley, and finally east just a touch to the Boulder Public Library to make sure we get the full effect. Registration for fun run is required.
