Partnership announcement: World Bicycle Relief and the Ironman Foundation

World Bicycle Relief is proud to announce its partnership with the IRONMAN Foundation during the IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

“Through The IRONMAN Foundations’ partnership with World Bicycle Relief, athletes can make a difference by raising funds to support a great cause. Let’s face it, as triathletes most of our bike shoes cost more than $134. Just knowing that a $134 donation will provide someone with a bike to live a more efficient and meaningful life, is just amazing,” said David Deschenes, Executive Director of the IRONMAN Foundation.

Along with this announcement, World Bicycle Relief ambassador and pro triathlete, Jordan Rapp, has launched his 2012 Rappstar Charity Challenge in partnership with World Bicycle Relief and The IRONMAN Foundation. To complement this exicting fundraising effort, Jordan has partnered with his sponsors to provide several exciting awards for donors who donate a minimum of $134 to his fundraising page.

Throughout the course of the IRONMAN World Championship race week in Kailua-Kona, members of World Bicycle Relief and Ironman staff will be using WBR Buffalo Bicycles to help raise awareness of the impact a single bicycle can have. The partnership will also seek to make an impact on the local community in Kona and the IRONMAN organization by reducing the carbon footprint at the race and minimizing the need of additional rental cars while decreasing the demands of traffic in the community.  Athletes and visitors – if you’re in Kona, come check out the World Bicycle Relief Buffalo Bicycle for yourself. Make sure to snap a picture with your mobile device and bring it to the World Bicycle Relief booth at the IRONMAN Expo Village to receive some WBR SWAG!
