Last week, at the Interbike Awards Gala that took place in Las Vegas, the crowd was delighted to see the original cast of the 1979 cult-classic Breaking Away. The film’s stars Dennis Quaid, Dennis Christopher and Jackie Earle Haley were presented with a re-created version of the iconic Cutters jersey, produced by Champion System.
The Breaking Away reunion at the Interbike Awards was definitely the highlight of the evening. Presenting the guys with the replica Cutters jerseys on stage really made the reunion special.” Pat Hus, VP of Interbike
The jerseys, which match those worn by the film’s stars, are now being produced as a limited edition item by Champion System and a donation of $15 per jersey sold will be donated to World Bicycle Relief, to help mobilize more individuals through the Power of Bicycles.
“Having a small part in making the reunion at the Interbike Awards special was only elevated by the opportunity to work with the amazing organization that is World Bicycle Relief. We are committed to supporting their efforts and are honored that we have found a way to collaborate and give back to communities in need. The partnership speaks to both brands and has the potential to make a lasting positive impact in the cycling community.” – Scott Kaylin, co-founder of Champion System
And that’s not all! The three jerseys that have been signed by the Breaking Away stars will be auctioned off later this year to benefit World Bicycle Relief. Stay tuned to learn more about how you can have your own piece of cycling history through these upcoming auctions. More details will be shared soon.
