2016 will be the second year World Bicycle Relief will be hosting a team of athletes at the famed Leadville 100 MTB. This year, ten lucky athletes will have the opportunity to race 100 miles through the high alpine terrain of Colorado. Leading the team’s efforts are Ted King and Laurens ten Dam of Team Giant-Alpecin.
We are looking for special individuals seeking to add more purpose to an epic race through fundraising. Think you’ve got what it takes? Join Team WBR at one of the most grueling mountain bike races in the country. You’ll race this extreme terrain as a member of our team alongside other athletes representing the Power of Bicycles. We will be selecting ten individuals with the desire to both race and give back. Athletes will be selected based on a compelling application and the commitment to raise $3,500 for World Bicycle Relief. Not only will you have a chance to race in the rare air of the Colorado mountains but take part in pre-race events with World Bicycle Relief and other supporters. Be a part of something bigger on race day and ride for The Power of Bicycles. Check out all the details below.
“My entry into the sport of cycling started on a mountain bike and segued to a ten year career of professional road racing. The Leadville 100 has been on my radar since I first caught wind of it in high school. That European based race schedule has always prohibited me from competing in Leadville, but that urge to race Leadville has remained steadfast. To retire this year from road racing and not only to be able to race Leadville, but to do so on behalf of WBR a group with which I have a tremendous relationship and admiration for their outstanding work makes August 13 a super special date on the calendar. I can’t wait! Ted King
