Name: Eva Danner
Title: Graphics & Administration
Location: Insbruck, Austria
Employed Since: April 2016
What were you doing before working with World Bicycle Relief?
Prior to World Bicycle Relief, I worked for SRAM’s Austrian distributor for almost eight years. I started as a product manager for cycling apparel and worked my way up to become the marketing manager.
What drew you to World Bicycle Relief?
I am passionate about bikes; in development and in the context of urban mobility, health and social development in western countries. I have a strong relationship with Africa. I studied there, have visited many times and my father-in-law is living in South Africa, so I’ve seen the Power of Bicycles at work.
What is a typical day of work like for you?
A typical day starts with riding my bike 11km to meet my colleagues. My daily tasks include answering e-mails, translating marketing assets from English to German, doing graphic design and maintaining our database.
What is the best part of your job?
Knowing that everything I do aims at giving people a better chance to take control over their lives.
What is the most difficult part of your job?
Sometimes you invest a lot of time and emotion into a potential partnership, and for whatever reason, company guidelines, timing, etc. it ends up not happening.
What is your dream for the organization?
My dream is that one day our Buffalo Bicycles social enterprise sales in Africa generate enough profit to fund our philanthropic distributions.
What is one random fact about you that no one on staff knows?
Don’t ask me to iron clothes, to knit or to sing but do ask me to build a tree house, to climb a mountain to watch a sunrise or to surf on the Great Lakes.
