One Day 100 Bikes, for the third year running, rallied the community to make an incredible contribution to World Bicycle Relief!
Over two fun-filled days in September, supporters in Chicago attended a film festival, joined a group ride or dropped in at a spin class to celebrate The Power of Bicycles. Fundraisers also rallied friends and family to raise money for One Day 100 Bikes.
So far, the efforts of WBR volunteer Tom Renaud and One Day 100 Bikes has raised more than $88,000 – and counting – this year. That means almost 600 students will be empowered with life-changing mobility in rural Africa!
World Bicycle Relief enjoyed every part of the exciting weekend, which started off with the Filmed By Bike film festival at the Athenaeum Theatre and the party that followed at Heritage Bicycles. The event brought together hundreds of new and existing WBR supporters. Attendees enjoyed snacks from Vienna Beef, Clif Bar and Skinny Pop, along with complimentary Odell Brewery beer. The silent auction and raffle prizes were a huge hit as well!
Saturday’s gorgeous weather was perfect for the group rides and FFC’s rooftop spin class. Three group rides, with Adventure Cycling, Johnny Sprockets and Klick Cycling, ended near the Athenaeum Theater for a post-ride block party. More than 40 riders enjoyed snacks and coffee from Colectivo Coffee Roasters and beer from DryHop. Riders also participated in a raffle, with prizes from Kryptonite, Urban Kayak, Abus and collection of Lakeview restaurants.Fitness Formula Clubs also held several other events in the weeks leading up to this weekend to raise funds for World Bicycle Relief. Thank you, FFC, for being such a great partner over the years to One Day 100 Bikes!
A big thank you also goes out to the sponsors who supported One Day 100 Bikes: Northwestern Medicine, Athenaeum Theater, Wintrust Bank, 93XRT, Abus, Fitness Formula Club West Loop and Lincoln Park, Johnny Sprockets, Freeborn Attorneys at Law, WBEZ Chicago, KPMG, and Heritage Bicycles.
