Produced by The Chicago Community Trust and broadcast by WTTW, What You Do Matters documentary aims to inspire others to get involved, give back and make positive change in the world.
Chicago, IL – What You Do Matters documentary from The Chicago Community Trust, premieres Monday, November 21st on WTTW at 9:00pm. The new documentary focuses on the value of philanthropy, telling inspirational stories of individuals giving of their time, treasure, and talent to make a difference in the lives of others. Co-founders of World Bicycle Relief, FK Day and Leah Missbach Day, are featured in What You Do Matters and discuss what inspired them to start a global non-profit that distributes specially designed, high-quality bicycles to students, healthcare workers and entrepreneurs in rural developing countries worldwide.
In rural developing areas where the terrain is challenging and there are very few transportation options, distance is a barrier that prevents entrepreneurs from accessing markets, children from attending school and patients from receiving health care. A sturdy, reliable bicycle can change all of that. Compared to walking, bicycles are able to reduce commute times by up to 75%. With the time saved by riding a bike, people are accomplishing much more. Entrepreneurs increase their productivity and profits. Students increase attendance by over 25% and academic performance by over 55%. And, healthcare workers visit 40% more patients per day.
What You Do Matters includes the stories of other individuals who feel compelled to give back: the creator of “366 Random Acts,” young people who help the homeless and those coping with addictions, gender identity issues, and physical disabilities, along with many others who are dedicating their lives to making the world a better place for everyone.
WTTW will air What You Do Matters documentary again on November 22nd at 3:00pm and November 23rd at 3:30am. The documentary will also be available for viewing after November 21st at: www.whatyoudomattersfilm.com
