Webinar: COVID-19 in Africa

World Bicycle Relief is responding to the COVID-19 pandemic by ramping up our health programming and increasing bicycle distributions to health partners across our program countries.

The communities World Bicycle Relief serves in rural Africa are extremely vulnerable to the current global health crisis, and are not equipped to cope with the spread of COVID-19. We are responding by ramping up our health programming and increasing bicycle distributions to health partners across our program countries.

Frontline health workers mobilized with a bicycle will play a critical role in how these regions prepare, respond, and recover from the impact of the COVID-19 public health crisis.

  • With a bicycle, health workers can reach 88% more households than on foot to deliver medical care.
  • Bicycles will be critical in educating rural communities and refugee camps on proper hygiene, prevention and how to care for those who contract the virus.
  • With limited access to transportation, bike ambulances can transport the sick to and from health clinics.
  •  To date, we’ve mobilized 137,000 frontline health workers with bicycles. But this is only a fraction of what is needed to battle COVID-19. Every additional bicycle will make an impact and save lives.
Help us battle the COVID-19 pandemic for the most vulnerable communities by providing frontline health workers with life-changing bicycles.
