Help build back a stronger, brighter future for women and their communities

An Increased Need

As communities begin to reopen and rebuild from the pandemic, women and girls are at risk of being left behind. Existing gender disparities in developing regions have only increased.

With bicycles, women and girls have the opportunity to build back stronger. Together, we can ensure they not only rebound but thrive.

ZULE FORGES AHEAD

The $100 per month Zule Quintero spent commuting to and from her work transporting produce was a price she just couldn't afford - especially when the pandemic made job scarcity worse. When Zule, along with other women at the Food and Agricultural Organization in La Paz, Colombia, received Buffalo Bicycles, she was able to use her savings toward food and school fees instead. "The bicycle has been of great benefit to me," says Zule, who now has the tool she needs to carry her through the pandemic and beyond.

FEBBY MAKES HER COMEBACK

"No other girl in my family has ever gone on in education," says Febby about her motivation to resume school after becoming a young mother. On her Buffalo Bicycle, Febby returned to class, despite the odds, to create a brighter future for herself and her daughter. You can see Febby and her friends in the new short film, "The Comeback Girls".

ALL EYES ON ANNIE

“I am trying to dismiss the myth that only men can fix bicycles,” says Annie Chisale, the first female mechanic in her district. “Being the first woman mechanic,” she says, “the youth in our village look up to me and understand that they can do anything to improve their lives and the community. I am a role model and am proud of that. Women can."
