Our Board

ESTHER NDETI – Board Member

Esther Ndeti is Investment Principal at Uncap, with years of experience in the venture funding space. Her keen eye for investment strategy and tactical expertise in early-stage financing have allowed her to excel in strategic analysis, due diligence assessment, capital-raising advisory and portfolio management.

Esther previously served as Executive Director at the East Africa Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (EAVCA), where she worked at the intersection of the private sector finance and development. In this role, she supported institutional investors and regulators with strategy design, policy formulation, market insights and fundraising. As a passionate advocate for women in business, she also recently founded ‘Preneur Today’, an initiative that highlights the work of female entrepreneurs in Africa.

Esther’s experience extends to advisory roles on the boards of Viktoria Business Angels (VBAN), GrowthAfrica, and ASSEK; demonstrating her expertise in global finance and her commitment to building strong networks within the business community.

With her Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nairobi, Esther brings a unique blend of technical knowledge and business acumen to her leadership roles.

Esther is an avid cyclist in and around Kenya – and continues to be a passionate advocate for safe cycling and sustainable transport in the country.

ANNA-MARIE HARLING – Board Member

Anna-Marie leads the Philanthropic Collaboration team at Co-Impact, fostering collaboration, mobilizing philanthropic funding, and advocating for more and better funding to support gender equality and women’s leadership. Combining practical experience and academic rigor with almost 20 years of experience across the civil society and private sectors, she helps Co-Impact’s funding partners contribute to meaningful improvements in the lives of millions of people.  Previously Anna-Marie was Head of the UHNW Philanthropy Center at UBS in Zurich, where she was responsible for thought leadership on strategic philanthropy. Prior to that, she was Senior Research Associate at the European Venture Philanthropy Association, where she worked with 180+ members on best practice topics to drive more impactful philanthropy. Before, she worked with Ashoka, helping social entrepreneurs scale their business models within and across countries.

Anna-Marie began her career in investment banking at Credit Suisse, working in both London and Zurich. She holds an MBA from IESE Business School in Barcelona and an MA (Hons) in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Oxford University. She is an avid road cyclist and triathlete.

NATHANIEL HELLER – Board Member

Nathaniel has more than two decades of experience in the non-profit, international development, and philanthropy spaces. As the Vice President & Managing Director of Geneva Global (and its sister organization, Global Impact), Nathaniel oversees the combined organization’s support to institutional philanthropies and ultra-high net worth families as well as international non-governmental organizations. Prior to joining Geneva Global, Nathaniel served as an Executive Vice President at Results for Development (R4D), where he oversaw many of the organization’s technical teams aimed at strengthening health, education, and nutrition systems in low-income countries.

Earlier in his career, Nathaniel co-founded and led Global Integrity, an international non-governmental anti-corruption organization working in more than 100 countries to strengthen government transparency and accountability safeguards. From 2017 to 2019, he co-chaired the Open Government Partnership (a multi-stakeholder partnership spanning governments and civil society) and was the catalyst behind the establishment of the OpenGov Hub, the world’s first thematic co-working space focused on open government issues. He began his career working at a non-profit investigative journalism organization (the Center for Public Integrity) and at the US Department of State.

Nathaniel holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware and completed his graduate work at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. He is an avid road and gravel cyclist.

LIZ KELLISON – Board Member

Liz Kellison is a Senior Consultant, Gender Equality at Stanford University’s Global Center for Gender Equality, where she supports organizations to create and implement solutions to alleviate poverty and gender inequality. In 2021, Liz was named to Apolitical’s 100 Most Influential People in Gender Policy 2021

A seasoned leader with experience in philanthropy and the nonprofit sector, Liz has deep practical and strategic experience in gender equality and digital financial services. She spent 11 years at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where she developed the Financial Services for the Poor team’s first gender strategy.  Prior to joining the Gates Foundation, Liz was instrumental in launching and managing WebJunction.org, a learning portal for public library staff run by OCLC, the world’s largest nonprofit library cooperative. Liz earned a BA in Russian Language and Literature from Williams College, and an MA in Slavic Literature from UNC-Chapel Hill, and struggles to speak Russian as well as she used to.

LEAH MISSBACH DAY – Board Member

Leah Missbach Day is co-founder of World Bicycle Relief and a documentary photographer based in Chicago. Her images and storytelling often serve World Bicycle Relief’s campaigns and illustrate the power of bicycles to transform lives. Leah is profiled in Seeing Brave, a documentary that shares the stories of three women trailblazers inspiring the next generation of female leaders and as author of the foreword to National Geographic’s book Wheels of Change: How Women Rode to Freedom.

BOB PERKOWITZ – Board Member

Bob Perkowitz is president and founder of ecoAmerica, a non-profit that empowers national health, faith, and community organizations in effective climate action and advocacy.  Bob has served on the boards of the Sierra Club Foundation, Environmental Defense Fund, and ClearPath Foundation. In his business career, he has been CEO of Cornerstone Brands, Home Fashions, Inc., Smith+Noble, and a director of  SNAP A/V and SRAM, Inc. Bob received a B.S. from Lake Forest College and an M.B.A. from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.

F.K. DAY – Chairman of the Board

In 1987, Frederick (F.K.) Day, his brother Stan, and some friends founded SRAM Corporation, the leading bicycle component supplier. In 2005, immediately following the Indian Ocean Tsunami, Day co-founded the international non-profit World Bicycle Relief. Day leverages his and SRAM’s bicycle experience and that of the global bicycle industry to deliver large-scale, comprehensive bicycle programs in developing countries. Day is a long-standing board member of his alma mater, The South Kent School in Western Connecticut. Day studied economics at Wayne State University and economics and Latin American studies at Tulane University.

STANLEY R. DAY JR. – Board Member

Stan is founder and chairman of the board of SRAM Corporation and its former CEO for 31 years. Founded in 1987, the company has become the largest bicycle component supplier in the US and second-largest in the world. Stan has spent significant time living in Asia and traveling the world while developing SRAM. Stan earned his BS in business at Tulane University and his MBA at Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

MICHAEL HERR – Board Member

Mike is the recently-retired Chief Financial Officer of SRAM Corporation, where he enjoyed a 29-year career. In this role, Mike was responsible for the worldwide finance, accounting, tax, and MIS functions of SRAM. A certified public accountant, Mike began his career in public accounting before working at GE Capital.  He is an active alum of the University of Dayton, where he currently serves on the Board of Trustees.  He is an avid cyclist.
