Po Campo Turns Bags to Bikes to Support WBR

Po Campo is a Chicago-based company offering stylish bags designed to attach to bikes or yoga mats or to just sling over your shoulder! Inspired by the lack of functional yet handsome bike bags on the market, founders Maria Boustead and Emily Taylor opened Po Campo to offer a more fashionable choice for cyclists.

In line with their mission to get people on bikes and encourage women to chase their dreams, Po Campo is partnering with WBR to donate bicycles to students in rural Africa. For every 25 bags sold through their online store, Po Campo will donate $134–the cost of one Buffalo Bike!

Maria explains:

Po Campo has been looking for a charity to partner with to help further our mission for some time. WBR shares our passion for supporting girls in realizing their dreams as well as recognizing the bicycle as the perfect tool for gaining access to new opportunities. By working with WBR, we are delighted to play an active role in equipping the female leaders of tomorrow with the tools they need to change the world for the better.

When Maria started Po Campo, she hoped the bags would make cycling more approachable and practical for women. After experiencing years of highs and lows as an entrepreneur, Maria is eager to support a new generation of girls with big dreams by giving them a bike that will literally and figuratively take them where they want to go.

My brother was a Peace Corps volunteer in West Africa in Gambia. I spent a few weeks with him in 1998 and borrowed a bicycle from another volunteer to be able to get around. I saw firsthand what a difference a bicycle can make–in being able to visit other villages or to go to town to the market. I also have many memories of the kindness of the villagers and the richness of their lives despite living in poverty. I hope someday I can visit Zambia and see in person how our contributions have empowered people!

World Bicycle Relief is honored that our Chicago neighbor has chosen to support the Power of Bicycles through their ongoing contribution. Visit Po Campo’s site and find your very own bag to support their mission and ours!
