6th annual Tour de SRAM delivers 65 bicycles

For the sixth year in a row, the SRAM Colorado Springs office hosted their Tour de SRAM event – a fundraiser to benefit World Bicycle Relief. This year, about 300 people attended, and the group raised over $11,000 – enough for 65 bikes! Since 2013, this event has raised more than $66,000!

While Tour de SRAM has had some changes and additions along the way, the basic premise has remained the same and continues to be a huge community event. The block party-style event includes food trucks, music, beer from three local breweries, a silent auction with items from local companies and those in the bike industry, and the exclusive opportunity to take a tour of the facility.

This year, a “WBR Experience” involved a series of challenges – carrying a big bulky box of chickens (fake, of course), two milk cans, and two big bags of books – to help illustrate the impact Power of Bicycles can have in rural Africa.

Tours of the SRAM facility sold out again this year. people really want to get in and see the process for creating some of the world’s top-end cycling components!

The event continues to be a great way to raise both funds and awareness for World Bicycle Relief. It’s incredible to see how the local community gets involved and feels a part of the success.

A huge thanks to everybody who was involved in the planning and execution of the event, those that volunteered their time, and to the many people that came to learn about WBR – we’re already looking forward to next year!
