Uganda On The Move
World Bicycle Relief began its work in Uganda in 2016, supporting rural communities where nearly half the population lives in poverty. In 2023, our operations are expanding in Uganda with programming and Buffalo Bicycle social enterprise opportunities, including a bicycle assembly facility, staff, mechanics and supervisory committees. Uganda already has a strong cycling culture. Access to World Bicycle Relief programming and Buffalo Bicycles will help those in rural Ugandan communities access markets, healthcare, schools, and economic opportunities.

When she heard bicycles would be granted to the group, she challenged herself to train as a mechanic. "You can see women driving cars. Why not me too? I can cycle. Why not make me a bicycle mechanic?"
